Power Distribution

ICS is well versed in the installation of low and medium voltage power distribution feeders and equipment. We can provide a complete power distribution system, from the utility, substation, and service equipment, all the way down to the smallest load center. ICS can install any size and type of electrical feeder that is required to serve your facility or equipment. We properly install duct banks, conduit feeders, cable bus, bus duct, cable tray, or aerial distribution systems throughout your facility. We routinely size and install feeders ranging from 15KV down to the smallest DC supplied equipment. Let ICS perform the repair or relocation of your medium voltage cable system. Safety Training Safety on our projects is of the utmost importance. At ICS, we believe that there is no excuse for unsafe job conditions or practices, which is why our employees are trained and certified in proper safety procedures. It is no mistake that ICS has a great safety record. We make safety a priority by investing the time and effort to identify and eliminate safety concerns. Our safety efforts include employee safety training in various areas such as, First Aid, CPR, AED, OSHA 10 & 30, NFPA 70E, Confined Space Entry, Aerial Platform Lifts, Drug Free Workplace Program, Forklift, Respirators, and others. All of our employees are compliant with the COATS substance abuse program, and many employees hold TWIC cards that some jobsites require. You can be rest assured that the ICS team assigned to your project will be safe and drug-free. In addition to the training that we provide to our employees, we are continually adjusting compliance to the needs of our customers. While all of our customers require OSHA compliance at a minimum, some have additional safety requirements that are unique to their operation. All of ICS’s electrical apprentices are required to attend the IEC’s State of Ohio accredited electrical apprenticeship program. A deep understanding of your process control scheme comes from the exposure to all types of equipment and systems installed in the industrial environment today. Heat Trace

Our team can design and spec the proper electric heat trace required for your installation. Whether installing for freeze protection or maintaining a desired temperature in your process lines, we are committed to keeping your lines flowing. With ICS, you don’t have to worry about whether your electrical heat trace is installed correctly or not. Our electricians are trained to correctly install the proper heat trace & components, and they know how to properly wrap valves, flanges, mounting brackets and other items within your piping system. Tank tracing can also be accomplished with the installation of tracing or blankets on your vessel. ICS also has the experience and technical knowledge to design, specify, install, program, and test electrical heat trace control and monitoring systems as well. Simplistic heat trace installations are not monitored, and they rely on a simple thermostat to energize the heat trace. This is ok until the time comes when a breaker trips or the thermostat fails to energize and the lines freeze and bust. We can help avoid the costly repairs of frozen pipes, which will involve stripping off the old insulation, removing the heat trace, replacing or repairing the split piping, re-installing the electric trace, and installing new insulation. Cable Testing

Medium voltage cable systems are often overlooked, which can be a costly oversight since medium voltage cables have a limited life. There are two problems with this. The first is that many people do nothing, and when a failure happens they unknowingly place their facility at risk by allowing a costly power outage to occur. In addition to the great cost associated with the unproductive labor, missed shipments, unhappy customers, and overtime pay needed to get back on schedule, there will be an increased cost for the emergency service required to replace the feeder and any associated damaged equipment on short notice. The second problem is, even if the life expectancy of a cable is tracked by facility engineers, the actual life of the cable may not always match what is listed in the manufacturer’s specifications. Many variables can change the life of a medium voltage cable, such as the type of stress cone and splices, the proper installation of the terminations, and the environment and manor that the cable is installed. When cables have a catastrophic failure, they tend to damage anything near the fault. This could be the conduit they are contained in, medium voltage switches, protective relays, or plant personnel. The importance of having a safe cable system is paramount to having a safe and reliable plant. Diagnostic testing is a great way of reducing the risk factor. Diagnostics testing looks into all aspects of a cable. It helps identify issues that exist within the system from the deterioration of the cable to the incorrect installation of terminations and splices. ICS has the in-house ability to test and identify the condition of your medium voltage system. Our condition assessment utilizes a state of the art cable tester that goes above and beyond the typical AC or DC hi-pot tester. We perform Tan δ (Tan Delta) and VLF (very low frequency) hi-pot testing on your cable system. This enables us to identify any potential issues while enabling us to grade your cable system from the strongest to the weakest link. The Tan δ test procedure can be incorporated into your maintenance schedule, and can be performed at scheduled intervals to document and trend your cable system. This data can then be used to ascertain the condition of the cable, which should allow ample time to coordinate and plan a replacement project for the deteriorating cable well before a catastrophic failure occurs. Control Panels

We have a top-notch, in-house, design and assembly team that can design, specify, and furnish custom control panels that will be tailored to your needs. We pride ourselves in furnishing properly functioning and fully tested control panels when they hit your site. You can rest easy knowing that you are getting a professionally designed and assembled control panel since ICS is a UL 508A Listed Industrial Control Panel assembly shop. Your UL listed control panel will come with a complete AutoCAD drawing package that will detail everything your installer will need, including the size of the electrical feeder and all field wiring connections. Fuse sizes will be labeled next to each fuse holder to eliminate the guesswork involved in determining what was supposed to be there at the time of manufacturing, and ambient conditions are taken into consideration during the design phase.
